I Used Volufiline for 8 Weeks: Results, Mistakes, and What I’d Do Differently

I wasn't looking for dramatic change. No fillers, no "done" look, just subtle volume, a little more balance, a little more rested. That's what led me to 100% Volufiline by Cosmetic Boosters, which I tested consistently for eight weeks.

What I didn't expect was how much how I used it would matter. I made two real mistakes that I'm pretty sure affected my results, and I want to be upfront about both of them so you can avoid the same.

Here's my honest experience.

What Volufiline Is (Quick Overview)

Volufiline is a cosmetic ingredient derived from plant extracts and is commonly used in products designed to support the appearance of volume and fullness. It’s often associated with plumping effects in areas where the skin naturally loses fat or structure over time.

One important thing to know upfront is that Volufiline is oil-soluble, meaning it absorbs best when mixed with an oil-based product. This detail plays a huge role in results.

It’s also worth noting that some people can be reactive to Volufiline, especially if it’s overused or applied in areas where volume isn’t desired.

How I Used It

I applied 100% Volufiline by Cosmetic Boosters twice a day, morning and night, mixing 1–2 drops into a pea- to dime-sized amount of oil-free moisturizer.

I kept application targeted, small amounts, applied gently, only to specific areas:

  • Forehead lines

  • Temples and upper cheekbones

  • Chin

  • Tip of the nose

  • Lips

  • Smile lines (lightly, focusing on fine lines only)

  • Under eyes (tear trough area only, very sparingly)

One thing worth knowing: Volufiline is not something you apply all over your face. Because it supports volume, using it in the wrong spots can look uneven or heavy. I avoided under-eye bags (not the same as tear troughs), full cheeks, the jawline, and any area prone to puffiness or fluid retention. Targeted use only.

The Mistakes I Made

Mistake #1 Using an Oil-Free Moisturizer

I started the test mixing Volufiline with castor oil, and honestly, that phase showed the most noticeable results. But castor oil caused congestion and breakouts, so I switched to Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel thinking a lighter formula would be safer.

That turned out to be my biggest mistake.

Hydro Boost is oil-free, which almost certainly limited how well Volufiline absorbed into my skin. Since it's oil-soluble, pairing it with a water-based gel likely worked against it. I believe this is the main reason my results became subtle and inconsistent after the switch.

Mistake #2: Applying It Twice a Day (For My Skin)

More frequent use didn't lead to better results for me personally. I noticed more consistency when I scaled back to once daily and gave my skin time to respond without overloading it. Twice a day is within normal use for a lot of people, but for my skin it wasn't the right call.

My 8-Week Results (Honest)

Results were subtle, not dramatic, but noticeable in certain areas, especially when I was well-rested and hydrated. On tired or dehydrated days, the effects were less obvious, which I think reflects both lifestyle and the absorption issue from the oil-free moisturizer.

Forehead

One of the more consistent improvements. I felt like it added slight fullness that softened fine lines and made movement look less deep.

Temples & Upper Cheekbones

The most satisfying result. This area felt more balanced and even, and my smile looked more symmetrical, which helped offset some asymmetry I've developed from side sleeping.

Chin

Mild improvement in overall balance, but it didn't do much for the lines that appear when I smile. Based on my research, that type of concern typically requires something like Botox, which I wasn't interested in pursuing.

Nose

The tip appeared slightly lifted. It didn't point upward, but the downward slant I've always noticed was less obvious. There's a subtle contour now instead of a straight drop.

Lips

One of the best areas. Not dramatic volume, but noticeably more hydrated, smoother, and naturally plumper with softened dry lines.

Under Eyes

I didn’t notice much difference here. Any improvement was minimal.

What I’m Doing Differently Now

I'm now testing Volufiline mixed with The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane, oil-based like castor oil, but much lighter and non-comedogenic. Three weeks in, I'm already seeing results closer to that early castor oil phase, without the breakouts.

I'll be sharing a full follow-up after another eight weeks. That round should give a much clearer picture of what this product can actually do when absorption isn't being compromised.

Is Volufiline Worth Trying?

Volufiline may be worth exploring if you:

  • want very subtle, natural-looking volume

  • prefer gradual changes over dramatic results

  • are patient and consistent

  • aren’t interested in injectables

  • are willing to apply it carefully and selectively

If you're expecting fast or dramatic transformation, this isn't the product for that. But for small, cumulative improvements over time, it's worth testing, especially if you use it correctly from the start, which I didn't fully do.

Volufiline Results FAQ

How long before you see results?

Give it at least 6–8 weeks of consistent use. A week or two isn't enough to evaluate volume changes.

How often should you apply it?

Once daily worked best for me personally. Many people apply it twice a day without issue, it depends on your skin.

What carrier works best?

An oil-based product. Squalane is my current recommendation based on experience, lightweight, non-comedogenic, and it plays well with oil-soluble actives. Avoid water-based gels.

Is it permanent?

No. Results depend on continued use. After 6–8 weeks, most people transition to a maintenance routine of 2–4 times per week.

What mistakes can reduce results?

Using an oil-free carrier, applying inconsistently, switching products mid-test, or expecting filler-level results.
